Woke up early in the morning and met Christopher and Phoebe under Christopher's block. And his dad drove the three of us to Mt. Faber SAFRA to watch the masters for Singapore Open. I'm glad we made it there early. Lol, we managed to find a seat behind Sean Rash when he bowled the first game. As more and more people came in late in the morning, the spectator area behind him during his subsequent games got more and more crowded as well. Many people came down just to see him in action. Hahaha. I can see why.
Sean Rash has incredible power, speed and revs. The amount of revolutions he put on his electric-green Avalanche was awesome. His pin carry was scary. The moment his ball hit the pins, they just flew around like a tornado just swept past. And the speed he threw his ball to take out single-pin spares was also terrifying. He was just incredible.
Towards the afternoon, which was during the female masters, it got pretty boring. There were so many people in the alley that we cannot really see anything. The Singapore bowlers played pretty well anyway.
When it was time for the step-ladder, the whole place was super packed. We had to stand on the benches just to catch a glimpse of the match. Super tiring. It was quite sad that our local bowlers did not manage to clinch the top 3 position for both the Men's and Women's categary. The Malaysians won everything for the Women's category.
During the Men's step-ladder, since none of the local bowlers managed to get in, most of the Singaporeans actually converted themselves to fans of Rash. Rash was the 2nd seed for the step-ladder so he had to play against the 3rd seed and the winner of the battle among the 4th to 6th seed. The 3rd seed was a Thai and he managed to strike out the last frame and it means that Rash needed 2 strikes and 9 pins to win the match. Rash managed to get two, but during the last shot some guy in the crowd yelled out when Rash was on the verge of releasing the ball. Luckily he managed to get 9 pins. That guy in the crowd is a freaking retard and he's probably rooting for the Thai. But that's just classless.
Anyway, Rash lost it during the match against the UAE bowler, Shaker. His first few frames were mostly spares but he managed to get 4 strikes in the last two frames. Shaker had to throw 2 strikes to win. But he only got one. His last frame left a 7 pin. So in the end Rash won and forced Shaker to a second match. But he didn't rise to the occasion and win it. In the end, Shaker won the title.
Rash was using a number of new Brunswick balls during the event. I saw him using the electric-green Avalanche for the masters. I cannot tell if he was still using it for the masters cos the colour of Python is too similar to it. I also saw him using Siege and Wild Thing for a few shots during the masters.
Damn it, all these balls are so damn cool. Lol, I wanna trade my blue/silver Avalanche for the electric-green one!
